Key Resources in Your Online Job Search

The modern job search has changed dramatically from only a few years ago. With the explosion of the internet most job searches typically now start online. As such, there’s a ton of information available on the web for the prospective job seeker. So much so, that it can be difficult to navigate and use in an effective manner. Let’s go though the big areas that should be used and explored in any quality search.
1. Search Engines: Mention the words “internet job search” and 9 out of 10 of us will probably think of online job search engines. These sites are almost always free (though most encourage users to register) and have a searchable jobs database to find jobs by location, keywords, salary etc.
Because of their popularity, these websites are often kept current and are easy to use and navigate. Additionally, they’ll often have a bunch of other free resources like salary surveys, resume posting, and company research. For many people, they’re truly becoming a one-stop shop for their job search.
There are several different types of online job search sites. The most popular and well-known are the big national websites (these are the Monsters and Careerbuilders). With all their resources they usually present a user-friendly website that also draws in the most job postings.
There are also the national niche’ sites. These websites are focused on a certain industry (i.e. technical or sales jobs), or a particular group or job type. While these sites certainly will have fewer available jobs, for the particular job-seeker they cater to they are often an excellent resource and help to find potential “matching” jobs quickly.
1. Regional websites are important because they offer the “next level” of job postings. Typically, it’s less expensive for an employer to post jobs on these sites (occasionally it’s free) so they can post a wider variety of openings. The sites also have the advantage of being Area-focused and can offer regional specific services and content.
2. Employer Websites: The most accurate, complete, and timely job information for an employer is available on their own website. Almost all large to medium sized employers (and many small employers as well) have a “Careers” or “Employment” section on their internet site.
Typically, these websites have the most current and accurate job information as they are maintained directly by the employer. Since there is little or no cost to add jobs to their own website (as opposed to placing adds on job search engines) all the available jobs are usually posted instead of only the high-profile position. Employers want you to find their job postings on their website instead of some search engine because it doesn’t cost them anything. As a result, it’s often the best place to find all the jobs for a particular employer.
3. Newspapers: Newspapers are the traditional source for job postings. Prior to the internet, job hunters frequently scanned the “want ads” in the classified sections of their newspapers. For many of the largest regional or national newspapers the want ad scanning has evolved into online posting of jobs that are searchable by the website user. These postings may also be the same that appear in the print version of the paper.
Many local or smaller newspapers many not have the resources to build and maintain a searchable website. Often, local newspapers are owned by a single company and have pooled their job search resources into a single site for all their newspapers.
While small newspaper websites may not have all the jobs on some of the larger more popular sites, they are an excellent resource for strictly local or part time work that wouldn’t warrant the employer placing (and paying for) an ad in a regional paper or search engine. If you want to find part-time work in Apple Valley, for example, the local Apple Valley newspaper is a great resource.
The job resources in the larger newspapers often can rival and compete with the big national job search engines. They usually have advanced search capabilities, resume posting, and employer/company research. The smaller newspaper sites can be more difficult to navigate and use and will often be solely listings of job openings that may need to be scanned manually.
4. Social Networking: One of the most effective means of find jobs is by networking with family, friends, and former co-workers. In the past, this was accomplished by each person maintaining their own manual “network” of people to communicate with. This too has changed (dramatically!) with the advancement of web based social networking websites where people can collaborate and communicate with others anywhere in the world.
Along with some of the more well known sites such as Facebook, there are also sites that focus exclusively on business networking. On these sites, networking with people who work in the industry or even at the company you’d like to work for can be a valuable advantage over other applicants.
These websites can offer you experience and insights that would be difficult to gather on your own, especially if you are making a career switch and have little or no experience in your new industry.
As with other web sites, be cautious about where you go and who to interact with. There are plenty of news stories recently about the misuse and true dangers that can occur with social networking websites. Just because the other individual says who they are and where they work doesn’t mean it’s true. Always be cautious and protect your privacy!
There you have it – use all of these resources for an effective online job search!

Getting the Best Deals From Food Delivery Service Companies

When you are looking to save some money, you might want to look over some of the deals you can find with food delivery service companies. Each of these companies will typically have ways for you to save some money and to get the meals that you truly love in the process.
One of the first things you can do to see if you are able to get a deal will be to call the company directly. Some locations will not advertise that they have a deal going on, but if you ask them, they might be willing to provide you with some great savings. It might be a 2 for 1 deal or you might even find that you are offered or they might have a $5 savings on an order of $20.
Another place you can look to find deals will be the internet. Browsing on their main website, Facebook account and other areas, you might find different deals that are listed. While there, you might find that the company requires you to use a password for a deal or print up a coupon for your delivery driver to get some additional savings in this process.
Newspapers and mailers are another way for you to get some better deals as well. These mailers will typically have a discount coupon listed in them and this can save you money down the road. For many people, this will be the best possible approach that can be taken when you are looking to save some money on your final purchase.
Keep in mind that there are a number of ways that you can end up going to start saving money on your projects. It will be important that you do take the time to explore each of these different options out there and save some actual money when you are preparing to feed your family as well.
Of course, one other option might be a frequent buyers program as well. Some food deliver services will offer their customers discounts based on the number of times they order or when a certain dollar amount has been spent by the customer. With this in mind, you will want to be sure that you speak to the delivery company you are looking at and find out what discounts that are available for you to use as well.
Saving money on the food you love is an exceptional way for you to ensure that you get a better value for your food and build a reputation up with a company as well. After all, the main goal you should have is to ensure that you have a meal that will always impress your family, while you save money at the same time. This money then can be used for more important things like vacations or just a simple family outing with the money that you have ended up saving from browsing the different deals out there.

Advertising, What Do You Want To Say?

When it comes to advertising many people are inclined to take the stance that advertising is just ‘making people buy stuff they don’t need.’

There is a lot of dislike verging on hatred towards the advertising industry. Perhaps not as a whole but certainly towards some areas namely, direct or personal selling. What is the main catalyst to this aversion to the advertising industry? I feel it is the fact that people just do not like being told what to do, it’s human nature to want to be able to make up your own mind with the thought that no one is telling you what to do. Although it has been proven that as part of the purchasing process information gathering is one of the main components; advertising is one of the main methods companies use to explain their products.

It can be argued that over the past years the ‘hard sell’ buy now luminous signs and in your face television advertisements have proven to be financially lucrative for all of those parties involved despite the cynicism surrounding them. There is the other technique used in the formulation and deliverance of ads. The ‘soft sell’ which in essence is trying to sell a product or service without trying to obviously appear as you are trying to sell. It is removing the sales pitch from the ad without losing any of the punch or effectiveness.

Today’s consumer is known as the post modern consumer. They are intelligent, brand aware, skeptical and in need of convincing or eye catching creativity and design if they are to give an ad more than five seconds attention. Never mind to part with their hard earned money.

How to Think of Creative Ideas

This is a technique for thinking up very good, creative ideas, you have most certainly used it yourself before but due to its simplicity and understated process you probably weren’t aware you were.

An awareness of this process will help you to recreate the same conditions and access those Eureka moments whenever you need to. It will also help demystify the design process used by many top advertising agencies, copywriters, engineers, comedians and scientists. In fact Einstein professed to getting his best ideas while he was shaving (as a part of this process)… but don’t worry if you are a lady because any form of distraction for your conscious mind will work; all is revealed below.

Simply follow these steps…

Step 1. Identify what it is that you need to achieve. Be absolute and as concrete as you can about this so that you are not leaving too many different directions for your mind to look in. Sometimes identifying what it is you need to achieve is what you need a big idea about, this is fine, just bring this knowledge to step two and take the whole project one level at a time.

Step 2. Research. This is the bit most of us tend to skimp on because the prospect of it really does seem mundane and often difficult to initiate. But it is imperative to your success. Like most unappealing tasks, it is also easier than you anticipate and can even be fun once you get started so make yourself a big mug of tea and jump head first into it.

Free Ebooks: Another Tool for Business Success

You’ve got a great website and business is fair. You know it could be better, but you aren’t sure what to do to improve your traffic. One answer might be to write an ebook promoting your products!

Before you declare that you cannot write a book and think I’m crazy, let me explain how this works.

Ebooks are the easiest way to promote a specific product or help people solve a problem. Giving them away via your website, autoresponder or as a promotion is one of the simplest and best ways to market your other products. For example:

· Ebooks are generally fairly short-20-50 pages in length

· They are limited to one specific topic

· They give quality information people may not have the patience to find themselves

· They solve a problem for the reader

· They display the expertise available through your website or business

· They help to expand your contacts lists via email for future sales and promotions

These are niche specific mini-books, think of it that way. A home decorating business might offer a free ebook on how to install bathroom tile, or a scrapbooking shop may offer one on choosing a layout for a scrapbook page. An antiques shop may offer a free email course on preserving and repairing antique furniture. Each is short and devoted to its particular subject while generating interest in aspects of the business.

You don’t have to write a novel (unless that is what you plan to sell) to get your point across. Visitors to your website enjoy the idea of getting something for free and you get to expand your contacts list when they enter their email to receive the ebook or email course. Delivery can be done by autoresponder and most of your customers will have a PDF reader on their PC so format isn’t an issue.
